Marbella Central – Marbella Town and Puerto Banus
Marbella is the perfect combination of typically Andalucian ambience with glamour on top. Lots of glamour.
In the city, the houses are sparkling white and the streets of the Old Town (Casco Antiguo) are romantically narrow and dressed in colorful flowers and orange trees. There are also antique masterpieces of Moorish, Roman and Spanish architecture and at least 3 Art Museums to challenge the perspective of someone who would believe this place it’s not steeped in history. It sure is.
But its allure comes from the mix of this ‘true Spain’ charm with all the things that brought it the reputation of “The Saint Tropez of Spain” and “The millionaire’s playground”. The top notch boutiques and restaurants nested in these charming white buildings, the smell of raw see food or truffle floating in the air, the stylish people walking next to you on the streets, the marble newer constructions, the cars with exotic names and futuristic designs joy-ridding across the city – all these signal at a glance that Marbella effortlessly combines authenticity and panache.
The exclusive Golden Mile area
Beginning at the western edge of Marbella city and stretching to Puerto Banus – is home to some of the area’s most impressive villas and estates, five-star hotels and gourmet restaurants, business centers and golf courses. The beachside of the motorway is fully developed, while the mountain side is still undergoing development, so if investment opportunities are on the agenda, this premium area includes spectacular views of mountain and sea and a comfortable proximity to Marbella Center, Puerto Banus and many beaches. As a plus, the development of this area was carefully planned, without any high-rise constructions and respecting the environment – nothing was built too close to the shore – thus making it a sought after area to buy property.
Puerto Banus is Marbella’s world-famous port – even though Marbella has one more port of its own, close to the city center and hosting many restaurants and bars.
But the reputation of Puerto Banus outshines it by a mile, due to it’s beach clubs, super-yachts moored in the marina and the long strip of bars, clubs and designer boutiques along the water. The focal point of the place is clearly the Marina, where locals and visitors alike are crowding the streets, holding loud and cheerful conversations over lunches or dinners, drinking cocktails in one of the significantly named bars or clubs – like Sinatra or Great Gatsby – or shopping for designer wear in one of the many famous brands shops.
A great option of enjoying Marbella’s panorama from the water is via a boat cruise between Marbella and Puerto Banus. Trips regularly depart from both Marbella and Puerto Banus, giving the opportunity to see both ports at a distance. If you want to experience the sea shore up close however, you can either walk, jog or ride a bicycle along Marbella’s Paseo Maritimo – which follows the city’s beautiful coast line for six kilometers – 2 of them in marble and surrounded by majestic palm trees.
