Enjoying the time you spend looking at property in Marbella will be a wonderful experience. You can make it even better by adding a day trip to Ronda to your list of things to see and do while in Spain.
Your Travel Choices
You will have the choice of either making the drive yourself or signing up for one of the day tours that has the destination of Ronda. Either way from the moment you leave Marbella up to your return you are in for an exciting event.
The Route
Most likely you will be driving along A397. This is a mountain road full of curves with beautiful scenery to be enjoyed all along it. It is about an hour’s drive that is a very pleasant one. You may want to take the time to stop along the way to enjoy the views and perhaps take some pictures. You will have the opportunity to see the beauty of the coastline as well as Gibraltar.
Arriving in Ronda
Upon your arrival, you will probably want some refreshments as there isn’t much of a chance for this along with the A397 (the road leading up to Ronda). There are plenty of excellent restaurants that not only serve wonderful food that is reasonably priced, but many have beautiful decor to enjoy.
During this time you may want to make some plants of the specific sights that you want to see during your time here in Ronda. Keep in mind that Ronda is one of the towns that now make up the Sierra de las Nieves. The town is rich with history that dates back to the Neolithic age with the remains of prehistoric settlements surrounding the town.
A Ronda Walk About
You will find that there is much to enjoy just from choosing which walks you would like to take. It will take you about forty-five minutes to walk throughout the town. Then if you are ready for a long walk plan on spending about two hours to walk the plain of Ronda. The highlights of your walk should include a walk to the gorge.
You may also want to take some time to view the Puente Nuevo Bridge. Any of these walking areas will allow you to enjoy the beautiful and most interesting environment of Ronda.
Historical and Exciting Sites
The Bullring: The bullring known as the Plaza de Toros can be found at Calle Virgen de la Paz 15. There is a small fee to pay to see what it is here. For those that want to know more about the bullfights then this is the place to see. If you visit during the first week of September, you will get to see the bullfighters and the locals dress in period costumes.
Arab Baths: Another sight to see that will take you back in time is the Ronda Arab baths that were built during the 11th century and have been carefully preserved.
Additional Sightseeing Activities
You will definitely not get to enjoy everything that Ronda has to offer in one day, but some must-sees if possible are:
- A few of the many churches that possess exquisite architecture like the Church of Santa Maria
- There are several museums like the Mondragon Palace or the house of the Moorish King
These are just a few of the many highlights of things to see and do during a day trip to Ronda.
